So, i changed it to "Manually", gave it the same. ![]() I changed it to "Using DHCP with manual address" and assigned it 192.168.1.50, but it did not seem to grab any more information from the device. I connected the mac to port 8 on the 5505, the light is green both in back and in front of the 5505, but it did not assign the mac an ip address. I purchased a usb to serial cable, which i then connected to the serial to rj45 cable, and i now have a terminal session running on my laptop. At home i have an ubuntu laptop and a mac mini. ![]() The system, ideally, would be configured by me at home and then brought to the client to switch out the old (non-cisco) device. I am a bit new to this, but i want to learn. I have been tasked with configuring an ASA 5505, and i showing someone else how to use the java applet once i get it running.
